Hi all,
I have decided. I am going to get more shock value by speaking YIDDISH! Yes, you heard right, I have decided to try to learn some Yiddish and freak the heck outa my starring fans from the nearby shtetl -even more!
No really, I am just curious about the language and do want to pick up some phrases.

Girl, you are too funny! can you throw in some creole with that? you know how we do, at last in my fam anyway, we mix up the two languages when we really wanna freak out folk..lol
i'm sure its gonna happen! Everytime I try to learn a new language that creole just wants to slip right out of my tongue!

Good luck - it can be done. My father learned his yiddish in Israel by making Yerushalmis talk Yiddish to him. They thought he was nuts, but he's practically fluent.
Miriam - I wish, unfortunately not, but my son is in school where half the day is hebrew immersion, and he's already more fluent than I am with several years of yeshiva education (ok ok - ivrit class was at 7:45 am - way to early to be productive!!)

Try learning through songs; they usually are fairly easy to understand and to memorize.
